5 Advantages of SandRope® vs Battle Ropes

A recent study in the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research gave validity to the claims of how effective these training tools can be. The results of the study suggest that just a 10-min bout of battle rope training is “a vigorous-intensity workout, resulting in high heart rates and energy expenditure, which meet previously established thresholds known to increase cardiorespiratory fitness.”

No Anchor

Traditional battle ropes need to be anchored to a solid object, otherwise they will fly. The SandRope can be used anchored or free standing. Anchored, the SandRope® is great for all types of traditional battle rope exercises. Unanchored it can be used for countless other movements such as slams, carries, pull-ups, dips and much more. An anchor and collar is included at no additional charge.

Variety of Exercises

Doesn’t it seem that the only thing you see people doing with battle ropes are waves, two arms, one arm or alternating? While there are a number of exercise variations and progressions you can do, battle ropes don’t really have that much variety. SandRopes on the other hand offer a much wider range of exercise possibilities since they can be used anchored or unanchored. They are also weighted and only 10ft long so they can be draped over the body and used in any number of strength exercises like squats, lunges, push up, dips, pull ups, even crunches.


SandRopes come filled in two different weight sizes; 15lbs and 30lbs. You would need a battle rope that is 50ft long and 2” in diameter to get to 30lbs. This added weight combined with the shorted length (10ft vs 50ft) makes them an ideal training tool for everything from high intensity cardio, strength building, power training and fat burning workouts.


Battle ropes can be up to 50 feet long and even when anchored and halved that is still approx. 25 feet of space required to perform any exercises. SandRopes are 10 feet long and a 30lb SandRope is as heavy as a 1.5”-2” diameter 50ft battle rope. The limited space required makes SandRopes perfect for small gyms or home use as well as reducing their footprint in commercial gyms where every inch is worth premium money.

No Mess No Fuss

Many traditional battle ropes are made from manila hemp which shed fibers with use creating dust and mess. To eliminate the mess battle ropes are now been made from nylon but they are still subject to fraying. SandRopes® are made from soft yet exceptionally durable neoprene but is tough enough to withstand any punishment with no mess and no fuss.
