Special Features

Beyond the amazing functionality and multiple applications, the SandBell boasts a patent pending fill mechanism (called a ’Ngazzle’ — pronounced nozzle) which allows the owner to fill or remove sand at their leisure. Normally, sandbags, dumbbells, and similar equipment face steep shipping charges. SandBells, however, can be shipped empty and filled on site with minimal effort — and Huge Savings! You can send a full set of Empty SandBells (which, when filled are a total of 222 lbs) for around $15. Then you can get your own sand for less than $25 at the local Home Improvement store and fill them yourself.

We recommend that you purchase DRY WASHED play sand. The best we have found is the 50lb bags of Quickcrete Premium Washed Play Sand, which is available at most major Home Improvement Stores. Again, check the bag closely to make sure that it is DRY!

Hyper Wear's SandBell® is a cross between a sandbag, a dumbbell, a barbell, a grip bag, a medicine ball, a slam ball, a stability pod, a gliding disk, and a kettlebell. Made of tough stretchy neoprene, the SandBell is the most versatile and enjoyable functional weight training tool on the market. Sizes range from 2lb to 50lb. Even more amazing is that the SandBell utilizes a patent pending fill mechanism that allows the end user to fill or empty the SandBell with dry play sand. Imagine how much you will save on shipping!

Thick neoprene is soft and stretchy to the touch, but also durable enough to be pulled, yanked, and abused daily. One side shows a Hyper Wear Logo with the SandBell’s weight in pounds and kilograms. A colored ring encircles the SandBell, giving a visual indication of the weight.

You may also purchase a special funnel in our store to help fill your new SandBells (free with SandBell purchases of $25 or more). Weights of the SandBells are approximate, as you can determine your own about of fill, making the SandBells more solid or more squishy.

The main difference between the SandBell® and SteelBell™ is the density and size per weight. For example, the diameter of a 4 lb SandBell is 9 inches. A 9 inch diameter SteelBell weighs 10 lb. A 150 lb SteelBell is the same diameter as a 50 lb SandBell.

Another difference is the increased amount of dynamic shifting inside the bell as the SteelBell is shifted (the steel shot moves more like a liquid than sand, shifting more quickly than sand). Due to the combination of inertia and shifting sand, a 20 lb SandBell feels and responds like a much heavier weight. This slow shift challenges balance, coordination, core response, and stabilizing muscles.

The SandBell is safe like the SteelBell. It makes for a great dumbbell, kettlebell and medicine ball replacement because you can swing or throw the SandBell with maximum effort without fear of injury to self or others. No more worries about hitting your knees or ankles or jamming a finger.
