SandBells are safe for any P.E. class (Elementary, Middle, and High School) and can be coupled with any curriculum for strength, speed, agility, balance, flexibility and sport / skill training.  Hyper Wear has developed curriculum around the SandBells, providing teachers sets of easy activities to incorporate them.

While working with schools around the nation, we have found that teachers and administrators are always asking – how many do I need for my school?  So, this is a basic combination of SandBell sizes that work for the average P.E. class.

Wow!  What a great invention.  I have been blessed to be with the Hyper Wear folks and some we have come up with a million different activities with the SandBell that our teachers and students can use.  The benefit out of all of this is that everybody is excited.  It has brought some motivation to our teachers and to our students.  We are improving student’s strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility because of this one little piece of equipment.

The question that comes to me often is how did we get SandBell sets into all 14 High Schools, 19 Middle Schools, and 78 Elementary Schools and all I can tell you is that it is worth the money.  You need to go out and find grant money or you need to go out and talk to your financial people.  As a Supervisor, I would say list all the pros (and there are hardly any cons) and remember that this one piece of equipment can replace a lot of dumbbells, weight machines, etc. and it is a lot safer.  So, I am telling you, you got to find the money because it is well worth your investment

Michele Rusnak – Physical Education Coordinator for Austin Independent School District Grades K-12

Hyper Wear's SandBell® is a cross between a sandbag, a dumbbell, a barbell, a grip bag, a medicine ball, a slam ball, a stability pod, a gliding disk, and a kettlebell. Made of tough stretchy neoprene, the SandBell is the most versatile and enjoyable functional weight training tool on the market.

Sizes in this set range from 4 lb to 12 lb. Even more amazing is that the SandBell utilizes a patent pending fill mechanism that allows the end user to fill or empty the SandBell with dry play sand.  Imagine how much you will save on shipping!

Thick neoprene is soft and stretchy to the touch, but also durable enough to be pulled, yanked, and abused daily in your P.E. classes.
This is just a suggested number and quantity for your school.  If you decide you want different sizes and different quantities, give Joe Atocha a call at 888.460.0628 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              888.460.0628      end_of_the_skype_highlighting or email him.

"The Wave"

Description:
Lines of students across from each other. Each with a pile of Sandbells at the beginning of the line.  Teams are facing each other in a standing position.  You can have multiple games going on by splitting up the class into 4 teams, 2 versus 2. The standard rules of the activity are 2 things:
1. Pass the Sandbell to the person next to you when they are present on the line next to you and,
2. After passing it off, you must move to a center line and come back before being able to receive and pass off the next Sandbell.

Goal:
-To move the pile of Sandbells from one end of the line to another.
-To keep the students active for as long as possible.

Variations:
-Add a strength or power exercise into the mix before passing it off to the next student (ex: slams, pushup, hop on/off, figure 8, around the world)
-Change the movement pattern from a run to any other type of movement (ex: shuffle, crawl, crabwalk, hop, backpedal)
-Instead of competing "team vs team", give each team a time limit and have them compete against the clock.
-Add a "telephone game" message that each student has to relay as they handoff a Sandbell.

"SANDBELL RELAY"

Description:
Multiple teams of students (usually 6 per team).  Place cones, SandBells, or markers 10 yards apart.  Divide each team of 6 into 2 groups of 3.  One group of 3 (group 1) will stand at the starting cone/SB/marker facing the other 3 (group 2) teammates who are 10 yards away at the other marker.  Rules of SandBell Relay are:
1.)    The first person in line in group 1 will start will a SandBell and run to hand off the SandBell to the first person in line in group 2.
2.)    After a student runs, they will go to the back of the opposite line of where they started.
3.)    Student receiving the handoff cannot go until they have control of the SandBell.

Goals:
1.)    First Team to have all 6 people run 2 times is the winner.  Once you run twice, you should sit down to signify finishing.

Variations:
1.)    Add ballistic exercises such as chest pass, walking/jogging slam, lateral toss, frog toss, bear crawl, crab walk/kick, etc., to move the SandBell from one line to the other.
2.)    Add more repetitions (i.e. have each person go 3 or 4 times instead of 2).
3.)    Do races where each time through they have to do different exercise.  For example: run, chest pass, frog toss, bear crawl.

"4 CORNERS"

Description:

Multiple SandBells laid out in each of 4 corners.  Each corner is designated with a specific task, such as: corner 1- burpee with a press, corner 2- floor shoulder scrubs, corner 3- feet scrubs, corner 4- slams.  Move from one corner to another in a set pattern or completely at random, completing a set number of reps in each corner.

Goals:
1.)    Create chaos by allowing all students to go together running from one corner to another completely the exercises.  Once a student has completed a set number of reps for a set number of rounds, they sit down.  First person through is the winner.

Variations:

1.)    Instead of going through a set amount of rounds, have the students go for a set amount of time trying to get through all 4 corners as many times as they can.  Student with the most times through is the winner.
2.)    Change the exercises every round or every two rounds.
3.)    Do the whole exercise for a set number of minutes and there is no “winner”.

One side shows a Hyper Wear Logo with the SandBell’s weight in pounds and kilograms. A colored ring encircles the SandBell, giving a visual indication of the weight.
