Autism and SandBells

December 17th, 2010

Parents of children with special needs have a great resource in Eric Chessen of Autism Fitness.  Eric is all about health and fitness and has an excellent way of adapting exercises to children with Autism.  Not all exercise equipment is safe for children, much less children with Autism.  We are so pleased that our SandBells provide a safe and useful tool for children of varying skill and physical fitness levels.

Eric often writes for an online magazine called Parenting Special Needs.  His submission in the current issue includes the SandBells as “Fitness Equipment Worth Buying.”  Take a look and get in touch with Eric if you have any questions about the logistics and / or benefits of exercise for children with Autism.

SandBell gets around…

June 3rd, 2010

A friend to Hyper Wear sent us this email:

So here is a story from the public arena…..

We were spending some time with some of our best long time friends over the holiday weekend and I was talking to my buddy about the company we invested in as he was curious. His son (my godson and a 13 year old 7th grader) was listening in. When I started to explain what a SandBell was, I noticed his son perked up and paid more attention. As I worked through the description and started to talk about some of the advantages over dumbbells I included some examples of exercises that were unique to the SandBell….when I mentioned the SandBell Slam, he jumped into the conversation with a ton of excitement and said, “I thought you were talking about SandBells…we used them at the football training camp this year and we did the Slam….It was awesome, everybody loved the SandBells!”

I thought that was cool! :)

We think it’s cool, too!  What’s a SandBell Slam you ask?  An excellent way to take out your aggression!  Just take a look at our buddy, Eric Chessen of Autism Fitness as he finishes up a workout a few of these bad boys:

Walk Now For Autism

November 4th, 2008

Come join us and another great cause at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock!  Hyper Wear will be at the Walk Now For Autism event to take part in the autism community resource fair and participate in the walk.  Registration starts at 8:30 am; walk begins at 10:00 am.

We’ll be showcasing two of our products, designed with kids in mind: the small sizes of the Hyper Vest and the SandBells.

The small Hyper Vests are a perfect fit for kids and are proving to be of great benefit to children with autism.  Many autistic children respond well to weight and compression and until now, few products have been able to deliver.  These are two of the qualities the Hyper Vest is known for!

The SandBells are one of Hyper Wear’s latest creations.  Like ordinary dumbbells, they feature incremental weight increases starting at two pounds.  Unlike ordinary dumbbells, SandBells are made of soft neoprene, so even if they are dropped on the floor (or a foot!), they will not injur the user. They come color-coded dependent on the weight, so they look more like toys than weights!

Particpants at the Resource Fair will get a chance to play with the SandBells and win prizes at our booth.  They can also try on the Hyper Vest to get a feel for comfortable, functional garment.

Please join us in supporting this great cause made possible by Autism Speaks!
