Hyper Vest + Basketball Metabolic Conditioning Workout – MMM #56

May 24th, 2010

Wow – for all you basketball players and coaches out there, do we have a treat for you!  This week’s video comes from the brilliant mind of Alan Stein, an internationally renowned, basketball specific, strength & conditioning coach. Alan’s training program, Stronger Team, offers a variety of training services for the Washington D.C. area’s top players as well as numerous services and resources. The primary goal of Stronger Team is to provide the latest basketball-specific strength & conditioning information, concepts, and drills to help coaches and players maximize their basketball potential.  Stronger Team’s mission is to produce better basketball players, not better “weight lifters.” Everything they do is geared toward the end result of improved performance on the court.

Alan is a big fan of Hyper Wear products and sees them as an innovative tool to help create the strength & conditioning base, which give his athletes the ability to take their skills to a whole new level.  In the video, the Hyper Vest PRO is utilized in conjunction with vertical jump training while the SandBell is used for functional movements mimicking those utilized in the game.  His basketball-specific training with Hyper Wear products is original, functional, and looks like fun, to boot!  Enjoy the video and let us know what you think!

Hyper Wear + TRX + Chad’s 3SG Project – MMM #55

May 17th, 2010

Hyper Wear takes us to many interesting places and provides a platform for us to meet many interesting people.  Recently, we met Chad Skrederstu – an individual with with great vision and the will to make it happen…  Chad is a great guy who has taken on a big mission – to spread the word about functional fitness — from the elite athlete to the underprivileged child.  Chad is traveling the world for the next year, training anyone willing to sweat and teaching anyone willing to listen.  Of course, as he travels, he is limited in what he can take with him, which is where Hyper Wear and TRX come in.  Chad took a TRX Suspension Trainer along with a Hyper Vest PRO and a SandBell (which he fills when he arrives and empties when he leaves a new city.)  We are glad we can help and are excited about the breadth of people our products will impact.  Below is a message from Chad about the genesis of his journey.  Get to know Chad a little better and be sure to check is video linked below!

Chad SkrederstuHi everyone my name is Chad Skrederstu and we’ll be spending the next year together traveling around the world for Project Sand Snow and Street Global (Project 3SG). Before we get started I want to give you a little background about myself (don’t worry I am not an egomaniac so you can read my bio if you would like in the staff section) and Project 3SG.

I was with my roommate Brad and his girlfriend Kristina sitting on the roof top of Hennessey’s Tavern in Hermosa Beach in mid December of 2009 and Brad said “could you just pick up and leave tomorrow?”

After 30 seconds of having a panic attack about the thought I replied “no way.”

The question made me look back on one of my only regrets, (well… maybe not the only one but that’s a whole another story) which was not traveling abroad in college and getting to experience the rest of the world.

I don’t want to sound like a jerk but I had a great job as the Personal Training Manager at the Equinox in Palos Verdes, an awesome group of friends, I lived two blocks from the beach, and I was completely finished with school. So I was living the dream in my eyes but felt like I was missing something.

As a result, on New Year’s Eve I made the decision that I was going to resign from my job at Equinox and travel the world for the next year to launch Sand Snow and Street. Now I am getting to do what I love with action sports conditioning, working with underprivileged children and traveling the world for the next year.

I will be posting my trip itinerary in the next couple of days and will blog the entire trip via the Sand Snow and Street website. So let the journey begin.

Here is Chad’s First Video for Hyper Wear.  More to follow!

SandBell Physical Education Series : Elementary Activities – MMM #54

May 10th, 2010

Good Monday Morning!!

This week, Physical Education Instructor, Jim DeLine, of Highland Park Elementary takes my very own 4th grade alter ego “Lil’ Bill” through a series of fun, “water” based exercises with the SandBell. Grab your 4lb Sandbell and get ready!

The exercises go quick, so make sure you’ve got your thinking cap on, and have fun! Great for all ages of elementary school kids.  Enjoy the creativity, passion, and hard work that Jim puts in to his job every day.

We Love CrossFitters!!

May 9th, 2010

Have we ever mentioned that we love CrossFitters?  They’re hardcore, so enthusiastic about fitness, and excellent at making fitness accessible to anyone.  Hyper Wear products are the perfect fit for them because they are so versatile and can take a lot of abuse.

Mike Burgener – of Mike’s Gym in California – sent us some pics of he and a buddy before, during and after a CrossFit WOD (that’s CrossFit lingo for Workout of the Day) and we thought we’d share:

Basketball Metabolic Conditioning with Hyper Vest PRO & SandBells

May 5th, 2010

Check this video of some athletes preparing to be great on the Basketball Court.  That is the Hyper Vest PRO they’re wearing at the beginning…not sure why they took it off since you can do all full-speed training in it, but I’m sure they had their reasons!  And then the SandBells get in on the action for some pivot foot practice, enhanced kettlebell moves, ballistic sit ups, rotation moves, and – my personal favorite – SandBell dribbling.  Enjoy!

SandBell Physical Education Series: Through the Hoop – MMM #53

May 3rd, 2010

Good Monday Morning!!

Today’s “Muscle” takes us down to Highland Park Elementary of Austin ISD to visit a good friend of mine, Jim DeLine.  Jim is a Physical Educator from whom all of us could learn a few things!

Neat story here… one of Jim’s students, Jonas Tatu, has been so intrigued by training with SandBells at his school that he wrote me a letter.  I responded with an invitation for him to be in a few MMM videos with me.  He was ecstatic!

This week’s video has myself, Jonas, and one of his classmates, Whitney, performing a fun activity with one hula hoop and a 4 lb Sandbell. So enjoy our Physical Education video for this week with up and coming workout video star, Jonas Tatu!
