Core Plank & Flip : TRX + Hyper Vest + SandBell – MMM #48

March 29th, 2010

Good Monday Morning!

We’ve back for the fourth workout in our TRX + Hyper Wear series.  Some people new to TRX may have a common misconception that you can’t utilize other pieces of equipment while using it. Hopefully this series of TRX/Sandbell Exercises has proven those misconceptions WRONG!!

So, what do we have in store for you now? This week, we’re going into plank position.  It’s time to rock the core strength and stability and take it to an extreme level.  Want help with your upper body strength and core stability, but tired of doing bench presses and crunches? Well, check out this week’s video to blow the doors off your training routine!!

TRX + Hyper Vest + SandBell = MMA Hip Strength – MMM #47

March 22nd, 2010

Good Monday Morning!

Ok let’s get back to the TRX training! We’ll revisit the GHB (Glute Ham Bridge) again and throw in a little MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Wrestling spice into the recipe.

This week, we look at the importance of being able to engage your hips in an exercise that requires you to throw someone or something from one side of your body to the other. The common mistake is to focus too much on your upper body grip strength on any type of throw, so this week’s video shows you a fun and challenging way to work on hip stability and power. Also, the neuromuscular coordination of this one is off the charts!!

Good luck with it, and have a great week of training!

Men’s Health & Women’s Health + Hyper Vest & SandBell = Functional Fitness Fun! – MMM #46

March 15th, 2010

We’re taking a brief break from the TRX series to introduce you to some new friends.  We also want to share with you about FitSchools – a program whose mission is to fight childhood obesity by improving physical education – something we support 100%.

FitSchools was the focus of this gathering in Dallas, TX, on this particular trip.  We got to show a large group of school-age children how fun physical fitness can be and then we had our own fun!

Afterward, Naomi Piercey of Women’s Health Magazine, Adam Bornstein of Men’s Health Magazine, and David Jack of CATZ joined me for a workout using the SandBells, Hyper Vest PRO and Hyper Vest COOL.  We were sure to incorporate Hyper Wear’s two favorite elements in this impromptu workout: fun and functional fitness!

Take a look at our moves and try them out for yourself!  We love making friends on the road!

Check out page 47 of the April issue of

(on newsstands now)…

You’ll find a sweet blurb about our SandBells!  Thanks for the shout-out, guys!

Sandbells Featured in Men’s Health Magazine

March 11th, 2010

menshealth2010

Men’s Health Magazine has featured Hyper Wear in the past, but this is our Sandbell’s first feature.  If you haven’t ran to pick up the latest issue, here’s what they had to say about the Sandbells:

Sling some sand around
This new dumbbell substitute builds your forearms

You may be used to lifting heavy, solid objects, but there’s value in going soft. SandBells, stretchy neoprene disks filled with sand, can be used like dumbbells, kettlebells, or medicine balls. “The shifting sand forces you to work your grip, which triggers more muscle activation in your wrists and forearms, “says Jim Liston, C.S.C.S., owner of Competitive Athlete Training Zone in Pasadena, California. They’re also easier on your joints. Sizes range from 2 pounds to 50 pounds. hyperwear.com

If you are already using the sandbells, we’d love to hear how you’re using them.  Leave us a comment, and give us the scoop.

Meleah Rubio ~ Hyper Vest and Pilates

March 10th, 2010

We think Meleah Rubio is the bomb! She recently wrote an article about using the Hyper Vest while doing Pilates. She is a Pilates pro, so we were pumped when the Hyper Vest made the routine more difficult for her! Always looking to add the extra challenge! Take a look at her article and catch the video:

TRX + Hyper Weight Vest + SandBell Sandbag = Functional Training – MMM #45

March 8th, 2010

Good Monday Morning!

Now it’s time to give the Glute/Hamstring Bridge a try with the TRX!! Yes yes, an oldie but goodie, the “GHB” as most of us know is about to take a turn for the BETTER with the TRX and Sandbell put together. Watch me try to keep my balance while doing this traditionally basic exercise, but with these 2 pieces of equipment, it’s not exactly the case! Have a great week of training and look out for more TRX/SandBell videos coming up!!

Bestcovery Loves the Hyper Vest Weight Vest! (…and we love firefighters!)

March 1st, 2010

I took a phone call from a customer today. He is a firefighter and had some questions about our Hyper Vest. First, I told him that a good friend of ours is a firefighter and he swears by his Hyper Vest. Our friend, Brian, wears 10-15 pounds around all day for everything from working out to hanging out to washing the fire engine to cooking lunch. When the call comes for a fire, he takes off the vest and puts his gear on. Now, because his muscles have been trained to carry 10-15 pounds of excess weight, his 40 pounds of gear feels more like 25 pounds. In addition, because he wears his vest cinched down pretty tight during the day, he is training his lungs to work harder, which means he has greater oxygen efficiency when actually in a fire. Lighter-feeling gear + greater oxygen efficiency = a firefighter with even better ability to save me when it counts.

My new firefighter friend was pleased.

I asked how he heard about us and he told me that when he Googled “best weighted vest” a website called “Bestcovery” came up. Their tagline is “Discover the Best of Everything.” On the website, we are listed as the best weight vest out there! We’re so honored, thankful, and humbled to receive this title from this website. We really do work hard to make it the best and hope you think it is, too. Check out the website and see what other cool stuff they recommend!

TRX + Hyper Weight Vest + SandBell SandBag = eXtreme Functional Training Workout #1 – MMM #44

March 1st, 2010

Good Monday Morning!!

Today we’re taking to the beautiful outdoors of Austin, TX! We’re talking SandBells and TRX Suspension Training for the next several weeks and you are in for a good time, I promise you that!

If you are familiar with the TRX straps we’re talking about, you might be thinking “How can Bill combine one hands-dominant exercise with another?” Well, start with some good creative thinking, add in some quality pieces of training equipment with no limits to where we can exercise, and you’ve got yourself a training program! Enjoy this opening video on front squatting with the TRX and SandBells!

Key Points – Squatting in the split stance position is great for single leg strengthening and taking your overall leg strength and stability to a greater level instead of always doing a traditional base-stance squat.

Enjoy!
