Good Monday Morning!
This week I decided while on the beach I wanted to do a bit of a “Myth-Busting Infomercial.” Today I’ll be dealing with the myths behind training for “speed” by using an unstable surface -such as sand – for exercises such as short sprints and plyometrics.
Lots of strength coaches think that using sand increases an athlete’s speed. However, the truth is they are only working on strengthening the athlete’s body, not making it faster. I’ve been mentoring under the great Dr. Tudor Bompa (if you’re a strength coach and that name isn’t familiar to you, you’re missing the boat) for years and his lessons on speed training in sand are spot on. For greater detail, check out this week’s video!
Thanks to Cosmo for letting me put this video together!
