Schools around the country are beginning to realize that fit students are better students.  Strong bodies  actually strengthen the mind and the sooner a child begins to enjoy being fit, the longer and greater the effect on their health.

Hyper Wear has been working with CATZ in order to supply schools with equipment that will help students achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  The Hyper Vest and the SandBells have been warmly received as fun and practical exercise devices which the kids like to use.  More enjoyment equals greater use, which equals better health.

Here is an article about schools in Memphis that are using fun equipment and special challenges to get and keep kids fit: Schools are Muscling in on Fitness, Tests Show

All that extra weight you are carrying can no longer be an excuse not to run.  It is not your knees that are failing you, it is your hips.  In order to strengthen your stride, you need to do some cross training.  Strengthen your hips and your knees are running on easy street.

Digging Deep for Exercise Time?

October 28th, 2008

Time flies How will we ever find the time to exercise enough?  I found an interesting article on creative ways to find that time – because that time is essential to good health and a vibrant life.  Rarely does anyone ever say, “I don’t have time to eat, sleep, watch TV, hang out with friends, etc.”  But for some reason, exercise gets pushed to the back, even though it is essential to making all of the other things enjoyable.  Read more about how to find creative ways to find time to exercise: Finding Time to Exercise

Of course, Hyper Wear has produced a great way to get your exercise in – the Hyper Vest!  Because it can be worn any time of day during any activity, it is truly passive exercise.  Patrick had no time to exercise and he has lost 34 lbs using the Hyper Vest without dieting or exercise.  Check out his story.

Sink or swim… those are your options.  When Don Swartz at North Bay Aquatics is your coach, you are on the cutting edge of aquatic sport.  Don has been able to take a look at the Hyper Vest in the water and sees great benefits to swimmers with resistance training.  Don related in his blog post at Swim Coach Direct, “We now have several of their vests and recommend them highly after our initial testing.”

My Achy Breaky Knees

October 24th, 2008

Millions of people run.  Most of them even enjoy it.  However, this sport continues to be dogged by the idea that running will destroy one’s knees.

A new AOL Health Article/Interview relates, “In an effort to get a conclusive answer to this oft-debated question of whether there is a relationship between running and knee problems (or hips or joints in general) in the average healthy person, we asked five experts (sport medicine physicians, coaches and runners) for their opinions.”

In summation – movement is good for you, thus running is good for you.  Movement (running) without proper instruction, without cross-training, or with a previous or unknown defect can encourage an injury, even one in the knee.  With those items taken care of, however, running is good for you and your knees!  The Hyper Vest is a perfect running companion as it does not shift and bounce as you run and you can easily add or remove weight as desired.  It is also great for cross-training, so you keep all those supportive muscles strong so you can run long!
